40TH ANNUAL SALON OF ART – STURGEON BAY

EXHIBIT – PIRATES – SHIP TO SHORE – STURGEON BAY

KART RACING – STURGEON BAY
Dates of Event: April through September
At Thunderhill Raceway - John Miles County Park, 812 North 14th Avenue, formerly The County Fairgrounds Park. Kart Racing is coming back to the Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay. Racing will be Wednesday nights. Gates open at 3 PM, racing starts at 6 PM. Practice on Sundays from 1 PM to 6 PM. FESTIVAL OF BLOSSOMS - COUNTYWIDE
Dates of event: Late April to Early June
Month long plus celebration of spring. Beautiful blooming flowers, gardens, woods and orchards. Special events include self-guided tours, community celebrations with arts and crafts, food and music. Info: 800-527-3529.

HANDS ON ART STUDIO ADULT NIGHTS – FISH CREEK
Dates of Event: Year-round
Adult night attracts a diverse crowd, 21 and older, for food, drink, and do-it-yourself art projects in the relaxed atmosphere of the “Art Farm.” 6:30-10 PM. On select Friday nights throughout the year, Hands On Art Studio features live music during adult night for adults 21 and older. It is a 3 1/2 hour kids-free zone. All the studio spaces are open and ready for you to have a fun evening playing with art. The studio fee for the entire evening is $7 plus the cost of your art project. SUPER KIDS FUN NITES – STURGEON BAY

For kids in Grades 1 - 5, Super Kids Fun Night offers a night of freedom for kids and parents alike! The kids enjoy swimming, dancing, gym games like soccer and dodge ball, craft activities, concessions and hanging out with all their friends. Don't forget to bring a swimsuit and towel!  Please wear non-marking shoes to help protect the gym floors. All Fun Night participants are required to submit a completed Emergency Card the first time they attend a Fun Night (a roster will be compiled from these emergency cards, so kids will simply have to state their names at the check-in table). 7th ANNUAL DOOR COUNTY HALF-MARATHON
Date of event: 5/3/14
In Peninsula State Park, race starts at 10AM on a paved surface within the Peninsula State Park. All finishers receive a t-shirt, finisher’s medal as well as food and drink at the finish line. Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners, top male and female master runners and top three finisher in each age group. NICOLET BAY 5K FUN RUN/WALK
Date of event: 5/3/14
In Peninsula State Park, race begins at 10:30 AM, after the half-marathon start. Participants will follow the out and back course along the water on Shore Rd. going past Eagle Bluff Lighthouse and Welcker’s Point, finishing at the same finish line as the half marathon. Walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K. All finishers will receive a t-shirt and food and drink at the finish line. Awards for the top 3 male and female finishers, and door prizes will be given out. DOOR COUNTY FESTIVAL OF NATURE – BAILEYS HARBOR

At the Ridges Sancturay. Your opportunity to learn more about wildflowers, geology, birds and insects through field trips and hands-on programs. Our field trip leaders will guide you through some of the most pristine and unique natural areas in the county, some of which are not typically open to the public. Conservation organizations in Door County will share ways in which they are working to preserve our rich natural heritage for the future.  And, along the way, you’ll have an opportunity to share your love of the natural world with other conservation-minded participants from all over the Midwest. 32nd ANNUAL JACKSONPORT MAIFEST 10K – 2 MILE RUN

Cruise launches from the dock adjacent to the Door County Maritime Museum, 120 N. Madison Ave. Each narrated tour lasts 1-1/2 hours and cruises either through the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal or to Sherwood Point Lighthouse (weather permitting). Snacks and refreshments, including full bar, are available on board for sale during the cruise. NATURALIST GUIDED HIKES – BAILEYS HARBOR
Dates Of Event:  May 28, 30, 31 - 2014
At the Ridges Sanctuary.  Join a Ridges naturalist for a relaxing 90-minute walk through the trails of the Sanctuary. You’ll learn a little about the history of The Ridges and a lot about the wildflowers, insects and other features of Wisconsin’s first land trust preserve. Hike is appropriate for all ages. 6th ANNUAL WASHINGTON ISLAND CANOE AND KAYAK EVENT

This hugely successful event, which had its debut in 2009, will again bring a flotilla of local and internationally-known paddlers and voyageurs to Washington Island to participate in beginner, intermediate and marathon races. This is a must - one of the best bargains in Door County!  You must check out their schedule, but the place itself is spectacular!  The concerts take place in an old barn on what used to be a farm – it is as rustic as it gets, but the acoustics are fine, the experience awesome!  After you park your car in the large parking field, you walk over and see the gazebo outside the barn – and some of the musicians are warming up and jamming prior to the actual concert – this alone is worth it!  The musicians are students from all over (mostly from the Midwest) who are learning and honing their skills with music teachers who spend the summer at Birch Creek and teach (some come from as far away as upstate New York).  Students live there on the grounds for about 2 weeks at a time, and then new students come in.  It is truly a wonderful learning experience for the students, and they put on wonderful concerts for us all!  At intermission, you can stroll the grounds, buy some popcorn, coffee of pop, a Birch Creek tee shirt or sweat, and stroll through the barn too – back around the left side where the practice rooms are, and where students are busy refining their craft!

Annual Door County Triathlon – EGG HARBOR

The annual Door County Triathlon will take place at 8 AM at Murphy Park just south of Egg Harbor.  The triathlon offers two very distinct course options in both distance and degree of difficulty: on Saturday, the short “SPRINT” course (1/4 mi swim, 18 mi bike, 3.1 mi run) and on Sunday, the challenging long “HALF IRON” course (1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike and 13.1 mi run). 32nd ANNUAL K/D SALMON TOURNAMENT

PING PONG BALLS & WRISTBANDS

Please take note, and share with everyone you know who's coming to the ping pong ball drop on Sunday of Fall Fest: we will be using balls from 2012. The balls are dated with "2012", but are all valid with the participating businesses. No sense in wasting 10,000 balls...

Fall Fest organizers are working with the Door County Sheriff Department this year to wristband everyone of legal drinking age(21) at Fall Fest. This should help expedite beverage service for you during the festival.
There will be wristband stations at the following locations and times:
