40TH ANNUAL SALON OF ART – STURGEON BAY

EXHIBIT – PIRATES – SHIP TO SHORE – STURGEON BAY

At the Door County Maritime Museum. This ongoing exhibit explores the life and times of the buccaneers and scalawags that roamed the east coast of North America and the Caribbean Sea during the golden age of piracy. Call for info at 920-743-5958.

KART RACING – STURGEON BAY
Dates of Event: April through September
At Thunderhill Raceway - John Miles County Park, 812 North 14th Avenue, formerly The County Fairgrounds Park. Kart Racing is coming back to the Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay. Racing will be Wednesday nights. Gates open at 3 PM, racing starts at 6 PM. Practice on Sundays from 1 PM to 6 PM. Please visit the website for a detailed schedule as there are some dates on which races or practices will not be held. There will be Kid Kart, numerous Junior Classes and Senior Classes. FESTIVAL OF BLOSSOMS - COUNTYWIDE
Dates of event: Late April to Early June
Month long plus celebration of spring. Beautiful blooming flowers, gardens, woods and orchards. Special events include self-guided tours, community celebrations with arts and crafts, food and music. Info: 800-527-3529.

HANDS ON ART STUDIO ADULT NIGHTS – FISH CREEK
Dates of Event: Year-round
Adult night attracts a diverse crowd, 21 and older, for food, drink, and do-it-yourself art projects in the relaxed atmosphere of the “Art Farm.” 6:30-10 PM. On select Friday nights throughout the year, Hands On Art Studio features live music during adult night for adults 21 and older. It is a 3 1/2 hour kids-free zone. All the studio spaces are open and ready for you to have a fun evening playing with art. The studio fee for the entire evening is $7 plus the cost of your art project. SUPER KIDS FUN NITES – STURGEON BAY
Location: Door County YMCA, 1900 Michigan Street
Dates of event: 3rd Friday of each month, 2014; Jan-May, Sept-Dec

For kids in Grades 1 - 5, Super Kids Fun Night offers a night of freedom for kids and parents alike! The kids enjoy swimming, dancing, gym games like soccer and dodge ball, craft activities, concessions and hanging out with all their friends. Don't forget to bring a swimsuit and towel!  Please wear non-marking shoes to help protect the gym floors. All Fun Night participants are required to submit a completed Emergency Card the first time they attend a Fun Night (a roster will be compiled from these emergency cards, so kids will simply have to state their names at the check-in table). SPRING BLOSSOM TROLLEY TOUR – STURGEON BAY

7th ANNUAL DOOR COUNTY HALF-MARATHON
Date of event: 5/3/14
In Peninsula State Park, race starts at 10AM on a paved surface within the Peninsula State Park. All finishers receive a t-shirt, finisher’s medal as well as food and drink at the finish line. Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners, top male and female master runners and top three finisher in each age group. NICOLET BAY 5K FUN RUN/WALK
Date of event: 5/3/14
In Peninsula State Park, race begins at 10:30 AM, after the half-marathon start. Participants will follow the out and back course along the water on Shore Rd. going past Eagle Bluff Lighthouse and Welcker’s Point, finishing at the same finish line as the half marathon. Walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K. All finishers will receive a t-shirt and food and drink at the finish line. Awards for the top 3 male and female finishers, and door prizes will be given out. DOOR COUNTY FESTIVAL OF NATURE – BAILEYS HARBOR

At the Ridges Sancturay. Your opportunity to learn more about wildflowers, geology, birds and insects through field trips and hands-on programs. Our field trip leaders will guide you through some of the most pristine and unique natural areas in the county, some of which are not typically open to the public. Conservation organizations in Door County will share ways in which they are working to preserve our rich natural heritage for the future.  And, along the way, you’ll have an opportunity to share your love of the natural world with other conservation-minded participants from all over the Midwest. 16TH ANNUAL FINE ART FAIR – SUNSET PARK – STURGEON BAY

32nd ANNUAL JACKSONPORT MAIFEST 10K – 2 MILE RUN
Date of Event: 5/25/14

DOOR COUNTY FIREBOAT CRUISES – STURGEON BAY
Dates of Event : May 24th through Early October
Cruise launches from the dock adjacent to the Door County Maritime Museum, 120 N. Madison Ave. Each narrated tour lasts 1-1/2 hours and cruises either through the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal or to Sherwood Point Lighthouse (weather permitting). Snacks and refreshments, including full bar, are available on board for sale during the cruise. NATURALIST GUIDED HIKES – BAILEYS HARBOR
Dates Of Event:  May 28, 30, 31 - 2014
At the Ridges Sanctuary.  Join a Ridges naturalist for a relaxing 90-minute walk through the trails of the Sanctuary. You’ll learn a little about the history of The Ridges and a lot about the wildflowers, insects and other features of Wisconsin’s first land trust preserve. Hike is appropriate for all ages.
